Galaxy Note 2 - Massive battery drain after 4.3 update

10% is still a lot of drain for 8 hours. It should be between 2-4%. Anyway it is good that you have brought your phone back to acceptable levels.

Galaxy Note 2 - Massive battery drain after 4.3 update

I tried Lookout once. It killed my battery. I uninstalled immediately. Maybe that was just my phone but try to uninstall and use Advanced Mobile Care instead. Then restart your device. See if it does any difference.

Galaxy Note 2 - Massive battery drain after 4.3 update

Alright. Check what apps you have installed recently. More than likely an app has triggered a chain of reactions that led to your battery draining. Uninstall the last few if you cannot pinpoint one. Note that no battery monitor app is likely to show the rogue app due to many factors conspiring...

Galaxy Note 2 - Massive battery drain after 4.3 update

Unfortunately it's a time bomb Jeff. It comes unexpectedly and noone knows the reason. Worst of all is that Samsung does not publicly acknowledge the problem so they do nothing to fix it. Hopefully they will quietly bring in the cure with the 4.4.2 update...though I wouldn't hold my breath...

Galaxy Note 2 - Massive battery drain after 4.3 update

Also Aamir you can install Mobile Odin and then download the official update from Sammobile here: Firmwares | SamMobile . This is much easier and it does not unroot your phone. I hope it works for you.

Galaxy Note 2 - Massive battery drain after 4.3 update

Ηello Aamir. This is the link. Be warned though that you may end up with a phone that does not have gsm recognition for your area. If that is the case only the official 4.3 update for your area from Sammobile will do. Link for installing 4.1.2 and unrooting: How to Unroot Samsung Galaxy Note 2...

Galaxy Note 2 - Massive battery drain after 4.3 update

Αamir here is something I found out yesterday. When I went back to 4.3 I installed all my previous apps, not from a backup but one by one. I had forgotten only one. It was sheer providence I believe. That one was the Automatic Call Recorder by App.liqato (Appstar Solutions). It was an...

Galaxy Note 2 - Massive battery drain after 4.3 update

Ι have 4.3 on again . The official release. And battery life is just great (for now). I had the 4.3 for more than a month with bad battery life. That is why I tried all solutions I could find. I changed the 4.1.2 releases in 24 hours because they would not connect to a GSM service in my country...

Galaxy Note 2 - Massive battery drain after 4.3 update

I flashed two different official 4.1.2 firmwares on my phone. Reason being that I could not register on a GSM network and I still can't. Both gave me the previous excellent battery life that my phone had. So the battery drain is definitely a 4.3 mess up and I don't think that anything much can...

Galaxy Note 2 - Massive battery drain after 4.3 update

I have downgraded to 4.1.2. using Mobile Odin and a 4.1.2. official firmware from Sammobile. No need for PC. I'll let you know soon how the battery goes.

Galaxy Note 2 - Massive battery drain after 4.3 update

Update. The phone had an excellent battery life for about three hours. I then made a couple of phone calls and the drain started again. About 64% awake time. As usual Android OS was the culprit. It seems that this Samsung 4.3 update is so messed up that nothing can save it. I will have to decide...

Galaxy Note 2 - Massive battery drain after 4.3 update

Alright folks, I think I have finally managed to solve the battery drain problem, thank God! The bad news is that it cannot be done without your phone being rooted. So firstly root your phone in the manner my friend Serkansancak described in the post above (though you don't need Kies at all)...

Galaxy Note 2 - Massive battery drain after 4.3 update

Alright...some first observations. There is great improvement in the battery life but it's still not what I would expect. Eg iT still drops during the night about 2% per hour. That is better than the 4% that was before removing KNOX of course. Something is still keeping the phone awake. I am...

Galaxy Note 2 - Massive battery drain after 4.3 update

Hurray!!! I have done exactly as you have described and got rid of all 8 af those annoying apps. Security Policy tried to block me from rooting and from uninstalling but my root apps prevailed and did exactly as I wanted them to do. I will see how the battery goes and let you know.
