Most of your data should be in the cloud and restored when you set up your phone after a factory reset. Probably not a bug or more people would be reporting this. More likely you accidentally enter the wrong PIN. Factory reset, restore your account and data, and move on.

^ This. Expand notifications, and see what it corresponds to. This is how 99.9% of notifications work IME. I'm guessing you installed a storage space notification widget, or have it enabled in a launcher or something. Good call, Matthew, it does look like a MicroSD card. ;)
