What would Samsung's next course of action be?

I think Samsung owes us more than an apology after we forked over almost $1000 for a dangerous life threatening device - not to mention the hassling and inconvenience. Some people may have made off with some goodies by ordering early, even though at this point it looks more like a con. But many...

U.S. carriers backing off Note 7

So why the first recall? There's a defect at play here well beyond "pretty much every phone has issues with it". When the manufacturer has announced that a defect in a device that's with you virtually 24/7 could result in death, it's a pretty serious defect. I'm flying Southwest this afternoon...

USA today says Samsung has three choices in dealing with the Note 7. What do you think?

Hard to say it will turn into nothing when the owner states it was a replacement device, and when the replacement device could have caused a plane crash if it had caught fire 30 minutes later. Doesn't matter whether it caught fire because it was damaged or due to user error. A device that's...

How Likely Is A Second Recall?

All very good points, but will Southwest Airlines buy it when I board their flight this afternoon. It's damning that the owner claims it was a replacement device. Why would she lie? I shouldn't have to worry that damaging my phone or using knock-off charging cords may turn my phone into an...

Replacement Note 7 explodes.... on a plane

Re: Samsung statement about Replacement Note 7 That says nothing. All Samsung needs to know is the carrier and the phone number of the customer, to discern whether the phone was a replacement or not. The customer says it was. Why would she lie? Samsung already knows the answer. That they...

Finally giving up on the note 7

Now, if Samsung returned my $1000 for their dangerous phone, and gave me, say, a 50% or so discount on any Samsung phone... But the crappy $25 discount they provided on their first dangerous phone recall won't cut it anymore. There's too many alternative devices out there to choose from...

U.S. carriers backing off Note 7

Can't say it enough: This is a safety issue. Even if it's only one in a million, small comfort if it happens on a plane you're flying in.

U.S. carriers backing off Note 7

I feel your pain. But without updates our N7s are almost dead. Damn I hate moving to another device, but the N5 is outdated. Samsung is really driving me to look closely at the (dread) IPhone plus, and the new Pixel device.

How Likely Is A Second Recall?

The only question is whether it was a replacement device with the green battery icon. The owner says it was indeed a replacement device. That's almost enough evidence for me. Why would she lie? Besides all the carrier would need is her phone number and they would know in an instant whether the...

USA today says Samsung has three choices in dealing with the Note 7. What do you think?

Samsung will certainly need to do more than the $25 discount they gave me for sticking with them after they recalled my first Note 7. Otherwise it will be adios for me. A second chance on a near $1000 device is enough.

Note 7: I got my replacement! Thread

Totally. They're literally playing with fire. At least some of the 2.5m purchasers will continue to use their devices until they get their replacements. Why not get the replacements out as soon as you have them to avoid as many explosions as possible.

Feeling let down by Samsung on the Note 7?

Hear, hear. Samsung is offering us a $25 discount to stay on board? After the inconvenience and doubts they've caused. It sure doesn't look to me that they're as sorry as their CEO said today on video. Cut me a real bargain, and I might not jump to the IPhone 7+. $25 is an insult.

How long will it be until the Note 7 is available for sale again?

I think we're likely looking at more than 30 and maybe as long as 90 days before we get our replacements. What with the feds involved, who will have to agree to the safety of any new Note 7 handsets, there's no assurances of a speedy turn around. What we can be assured of is that the feds will...
