    Ok, thanks for the reply, so rooting and deleting is the way to really get rid of this app. Is it because when I received the new phone, it came preloaded with the app?

    I have a xperia u phone. I recently deleted the google hangout app from my phone, but I am still getting notifications about updates to the app being available. How do I stop these notifications? Android version is 2.3.7. Model no ST25i
