Poetic palette is a great case if you want something slim, great grip too due to the texture of the case.

They do vary depending on the batch. On my first HTC one the volume and power button stuck out a 2-3 mm but on the one I'm using now power button is totally flush and volume rocker only sticks out by about 1mm.

Mine was doing this too, turned out to be despicable me game causing the notification sound but with nothing there. Download noficifaction history from play store then check it next time it happens should show you which app is causing it.

Mine was in sealed plastic wrap. I think this is how they all are when they leave the factory some carriers may remove the wrap though to check the handset.
