is the usb cable that comes with chromecast power only?

I'm trying to connect my phone to my computer with it and it's not making a noise like it detects hardware. Can anyone test their usb cable and see if you can use it to transfer files or if it's just power only?

Using Chromecast with Android Phone Hotspot (AP isolation issue)

yeah i had a router running dd-wrt that could use the signal from my hotspot but that just seems so clunky and the router fried a while ago when i plugged the wrong power supply into it so it's not even really an option anymore...guess i'll just have to wait for someone to come up with a fix

Using Chromecast with Android Phone Hotspot (AP isolation issue)

according to google support this isn't possible: Can I control Chromecast with my phone without a wifi router? - xda-developers I don't buy it though. there has to be some workaround...it just isn't there yet

Using Chromecast with Android Phone Hotspot (AP isolation issue)

not really. this is the way things are going...bandwidth useage is just going to increase, their networks should be able to handle it and not advertise unlimited data if they can't.

Using Chromecast with Android Phone Hotspot (AP isolation issue)

wait, i ordered mine under the mindset that i would be able to do this...i don't have dedicated internet available at my apartment so i use my hotspot. I was going to connect the chromecast and laptop through my phone for internet... this doesn't work?? why not? i have a decent knowledge of...

Farewell Optimus V community! and saynora virgin mobile!!!

How awesome is this...I knew the gnex could work on any gsm carrier but I didn't know there are over 10 different GSM plans (even though technically only two providers...see below) currently to choose from! ?And while I knew it was an option to change whenever you want, because I didn't know...

    Google drive

pssst. you know google makes your phone os right?...for all we know they may already be doing this with some hidden backdoor. then they could have endless amounts of data and deny ever collecting it in the first place by blaming a "rouge engineer". :p but like that would ever happen...:-!

The borked radio update combined with knowing sprint wasn't upgrading data speeds/capacity in my area were the tipping point to a scale I had been teetering on for a while up until now. Just got my tax return and decided to spoil myself and ordered a unlocked gsm google galaxy nexus! Pure...

tool to check your local tower(s) for new upgrades

Came across this on sprint's site. Maybe others knew this but I didn't. It tells you what kind of upgrades are going on and what are planned (if any) on the your local towers and shows you where exactly they are... https://network.sprint.com/ Just have to enter your zipcode. I knew they...

any possible way to revert back to old radio??

Well...I thought it was fixed. Turns out it came back. It's not as bad as it was but I seem to have figured out that it only really starts to happen after the phone has been on for an extended period of time. After 12+ hour uptimes it starts to have trouble reconnecting to 3G after like I get...

Re: starting may 27th grandfathered plans will no longer be perma Eh..yeah I'm gonna have to disagree with you here. OV is decent, it does everything i ask...but if you've ever used a phone with a new CPU in it, they don't even compare. OV feels like fisher price after getting a feel for...

Re: starting may 27th grandfathered plans will no longer be perma Question for you LeslieAnn, Since you're familiar with changing ESNs and using sprint's evo 4G on VM... IF I stick around with VM and wait to see how the 3G is after the network upgrades, and they actually do improve...could I...
