Returned my Pixel 2 about a year in due to a problem with the charging cord not seating correctly and falling out. Easy return and haven't had any issues with the new one.

This may be an HTC 10 issue. See https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/photos/JyyKuY9zoVo Others with HTC 10 have had this issue since the update.

Quick update, the error states that photos does not have access to the SD Card. The permissions say otherwise.

I am getting this message on my HTC 10 on Verizon after updating my phone. My phone is showing the proper software number so I can't get it to update. HTC Sync manager alerts that there is an update but then shows my phone as updated. Any thoughts?
