I have done the deregistering thing but i am still having issues

My issue is basically what I stated in the title. I have deactivated my iphone but my friends tell me that their phones try and send me Imessages which fail to send so they have to send them as text messages. Is there some fix for this? Or will it work itself out in time?

Is there a way to get google now to tell me the time when I ask it? So far it had only been googling the phrase what time is it.
