I'm not proud of it but I have completely bricked it... you have to do something rather stupid but it has been done.

If you plan on changing the battery logo to the super circle battery... DO NOT install the evo black bar mod super circle right on top of it. That will completely brick it.

go to Samsung Captivate - xda-developers and look at some threads and read about certain things, just be really careful with whatever you do, you could brick the phone quite easily.

Well here's what happened: I got Odin going and the download mode as well... Odin was going through it's motions when I started it, seemed like everything was going nicely and then the screen just turned green briefly. I thought I did something wrong so I took the battery out and then put it...

Yeah I just have no clue how to do it since the phone just turns black and can't do anything.... Not even sure if the USB thing would work.

I tried to put in the mod for the circle battery and the evo black bar on top of just having the circle battery in already.. minus the black bar mod. I went to update it from recovery mode, it turns on with the ATT and the Galaxy S screen... then just goes black. Not sure what to really do about...

Couldn't overclocking it mess the phone up pretty bad? The phone is already really quick with most things.

I just use it to auto kill facebook, the browser, the AT&T stuff and have it set to auto-end every hour... works fine for me.

When the official 2.2 update is released for the Captivate and it is downloaded... would that cause any issues with the root or it'll still turn out to be normal?

I did it just in case I decide to attempt to remove AT&T Bloatware or if I figure what apps to even try sideloading.

That might be what happened with me, in the cmd it came up saying it couldnt find the device or whatever.

I just want to enable sideloading and get rid of the AT&T apps. The commands don't seem to be working though.

I got it. SDK looks really confusing though... even looking at the step by step thread. I downloaded and installed it, opened it up and there was nothing there but a a little blank screen for putting in commands I suppose.

Okay then, I saw the update file that I put into the phone... and saw that when I changed the name of it to "update" that I actually typed in "update.zip" so maybe that could've also been a problem.

Right now its back to the way it was before I attempted the root, service is fine, everything is still there.
