If i hook up my phone to my computer and download all the files on to my computer would that be the same thing as a back up?

I have titanium backup I downloaded twrp manager too im backing up with titanium backup right now to my phone, so once i back it up can I just mod what I want then if i dont like it just tell titanium backup to go back and restore and it will be like my phone when i backed up right?
