I'd recommend flashing the stock image that google released the other day and then just unlock, root, and download the google wallet app that released today. not the unlock or root are needed. I just recommend it.

you can always flash the stock image back unto your phone and it will wipe everything and start from new

Has anyone had any luck with applying the permanent search button or menu buttons to the system dock? Everytime I apply them my entire dock and notification tray disappear and I have to restore my ROM. I really want those two buttons permanently set. Can anyone explain or help me out with this...

There are a few floating around that are decent. But i'd just stick with cyanogenmod 7.1. maybe the nightly builds. That's what i'm running and i'm totally content. Especially with widgetlocker lockscreen. ICS lockscreen and cyanogen customization. I dont think the Droid 2 can get any better.

If you SBF to Froyo then update to the official gingerbread build you can then root using the gingerbread one-click-root method

SBF will definitely put you back onto the verizon update line, but you'll lose everything in the process.
