    Thanks B. Daddy, But alas, after charging all day, and holding all combinations of buttons multiple times for the 30 sec+, no joy. Dead. Luckily, (maybe?) a call to Samsung service is next, with about 15 days left on warranty, there may be a happy ending.

    Got an operating system update last night, and began installation this morning only to find my S9 non- functional a few minutes later. Screen is blank, will not respond to holding power but on down, doesn't change state when the cover is closed. Any suggestions?
