    Whew! Phone is working now! The fix: I reflashed a stock 4.4.2 image downloaded from androidfilehost.com. I had no idea which of the 8 versions of 4.4.2 to use, so I went with the latest date and that worked. So now I'm wondering if I can (and should) flash a newer Android before trying...
