    Android 7.1.2

I haven't gotten 7.1.2, and only got 7.1.1 by sideloading it. Didn't get the February or March update, either. I have been running VPN software that blocks ads, trackers, etc. I'm wondering if the issue is that my phone is blocking the host(s) that would check for and/or deliver the updates...

7.1.1 for the Nexus 6P on Verizon

I guess I lied when I said I would not return to this thread. I never joined Google's beta program (and never will). I also never rooted my 6P. And yet my 6P never got 7.1.1, as I posted here long ago. I sideloaded 7.1.1, and that gave me the February update as well. But I am still on the...

7.1.1 for the Nexus 6P on Verizon

I'm not going to keep monitoring this thread. So I'll just mention the biggest issue I had with Google's crap ADB tool. I had to use a utility that some random person provided to enable a flag in the adb.exe binary to make it work with large input files, which the K OTA file qualifies as. That...

7.1.1 for the Nexus 6P on Verizon

Consider sideloading 7.1.1. No, you should not have to do it, but look at all the BS you've gone through already. I doubt that getting a new device is a safer way to go. I have no patience or interest in this crap, but I did it, because it seemed like the lesser evil to me. It still pisses me...

7.1.1 for the Nexus 6P on Verizon

My only point was I had tried that and it didn't do squat. I finally gave in and sideloaded 7.1.1. What a joke. It took a ridiculous amount of time and aggravation due to errors and constant troubleshooting, because Google can't be bothered making products that work, or support tools that work...

7.1.1 for the Nexus 6P on Verizon

I missed that part from your post. Hilarious. I did that exact thing weeks and weeks ago. Nothing whatsoever has been done. If anything, I think they probably blacklisted my device to mess with me or get back at me for daring not to be happy with this piece of crap I paid a small fortune for.

7.1.1 for the Nexus 6P on Verizon

If it makes you feel any better, vzwuser76, I still haven't received 7.1 or anything past the December updates. I haven't messed with any beta program BS, though, nor will I. This reminds me of the hassle I went through with my last smartphone, which got messed up by some crapware I installed...

7.1.1 for the Nexus 6P on Verizon

I'm (still) on 7.0 and using Nova, and I have the Home/Work quick launch options you describe.

7.1.1 for the Nexus 6P on Verizon

I just went into the security settings and re-established my pattern, and selected the option to require it when starting Android. And just now, the boot animation stopped and required the pattern, then the animation continued. I'm sure it will revert to the other behavior after a couple more...

7.1.1 for the Nexus 6P on Verizon

Yep, no updates for me either. I guess Google doesn't like us. I'm starting not to care. I've had the same thing happen with the boot thing, except I use a pattern, not a PIN. It used to be I would always get prompted for the pattern during boot, as you describe, and then the remaining boot...

7.1.1 for the Nexus 6P on Verizon

Still on 7.0 NBD91V with the December, 2016 updates. I can't see how this could be Verizon's doing, since I bought this 6P from Google and while it has a Verizon SIM card, it has nothing Verizon-related on it. Anyone know (without merely assuming) if the monthly security updates are cumulative...

7.1.1 for the Nexus 6P on Verizon

I'm with you. I'm not content with the way some customers seem to outrank others. Or, if that's not the case, they should at least COMMUNICATE to explain what is going on with the updates. And yet, they don't even do that when you ASK them directly. I only really care about this nonsense...

7.1.1 for the Nexus 6P on Verizon

I'm still on 7.0 and the December update. I'm not sideloading jack, and I shouldn't have to.

Ad Blockers- Can You help Me?

I saw that, but it doesn't explain how the filtering actually takes place. For example, if I were to answer the same question with respect to NetGuard, I'd say: The app acts as a VPN, and the blocking is done by NetGuard intercepting all DNS requests on the device, and using a (user...

Ad Blockers- Can You help Me?

OK, but how does Adguard block ads and other things? Does it forward DNS requests to its own servers, does it use a hosts file, or something else? Or is it not explained? Does a user have any control over it (e.g. use your own hosts file, block specific host names, etc.)? Seriously wondering.
