Thanks for the explanation. What is odd is that I have seen reference to someone getting it to run on non z1. The z and ZL are the closest spec and run same OS so you would think if it were going to run. It would be on these.

No, can't confirm. I think you are probably right if the normal behavior is for an apk to at least show up as an app.

Thanks. Tried it just now and it certainly dims what is on the screen but not the black background. You wouldn't think black could emit light but it does.

I do, and in a dark room it's still quite bright...even the dark background emits quite a bit.

Coming from Blackberry where there is a terrific dark bedside mode. I have an Xperia ZL and every one I try looks dark but lights up the room like crazy. Anyone know of one that is truly dark and has a legit bedside mode?
