What to do if you forget your phone's PIN/password/pattern

Yeah, that's why the file in Drive is a password-protected zip. So you have to (1) hack into my google drive account, (2) find the zip file which is my passwords (hint: it's not called passwords.zip ;)), (3) hack into the zip, and after all that step 4 is to figure out what all the hints to the...

    Who ordered the small S24?

You can actually specify the site in a google search to only get results from that site by using this syntax: site:reddit.com

    Who ordered the small S24?

S24 "the small one" here. I'm switching from a Pixel 6 Pro "the big one". I'm sick of my phone sticking out of my shirt pocket by about an inch. Too damn big. I was one of the first in line when the Note 2 and Note 4 came out, buying what was described back then as being a gigantic phone, with...

Best migration strategy moving to a new phone?

According to their website it will. As long as the receiving device is a Samsung they're happy. They'll even allow an iPhone as a source.

Best migration strategy moving to a new phone?

Definitely will be a Samsung, the S24. I'll give the switch app a try. Hopefully it'll happily work on my outgoing Pixel 6 Pro. As it's not an obscure device, I imagine it would.

Best migration strategy moving to a new phone?

My current plan is this: - Boot up the new phone and enter my same google account as on the old phone. Give it a chance to settle down and do any updates and auto-restores that it might want to do. - Try doing a System-> Backup/Restore from old to new - Try doing a send/receive from old to new...

Best migration strategy moving to a new phone?

Since I posted the question above, I've noticed that Nova has a backup/restore all settings. So after transferring all the apps to the new phone, it'll be interesting to see if I can restore Nova settings and see all the shortcuts and groups automagically get set as they were on the other phone...

What to do if you forget your phone's PIN/password/pattern

A good tip if you plan to go the "write it down on a piece of paper" strategy is not to simply write the password, but write a clue to the password that only you would know. Personally, I keep all my passwords in a text file that I keep on my phone in the safe/vault thing (which has a different...

Best migration strategy moving to a new phone?

I've switched from one android phone to another about 5 times now (starting way back with Android 2.2) and I've always found it to be a long and painful journey. I reckon getting from happy and content back to happy and content with the new phone takes a good 20-30 hours. This involves ensuring...

Charging has been optimised (aka turned off)

I've never had a Pixel stand. I'd never heard of them until the issue happened in July and lots of the people affected were saying it happens with their Pixel Stands too. I use regular QI standard wireless chargers, 3 different ones (car, office, bedroom) all worked perfectly until that fateful...

Charging has been optimised (aka turned off)

First 7-8 months it was perfect. Then in July 22 after they upgraded the Android version, charging went into this state and stayed there for me until January when an update fixed it. All this time I was doing nothing to it. Then again in May 23 it stopped being reliable again.

Charging has been optimised (aka turned off)

I've never set any alarms on the P6P. You're one of the lucky few. Try googling "Pixel 6 wireless charging not working" and you'll realize how many are suffering.

Charging has been optimised (aka turned off)

Thanks, but that's been turned off since day one of owning the phone.

Charging has been optimised (aka turned off)

So here's the story. It's 11pm and my phone is at 95-100% charge and I put my phone on charge (by cable, not wireless of course - it's a Pixel 6 Pro so wireless charging is useless). Before midnight I notice that it's reached 100%. When I woke up at 7:48am I see my phone is at 93%. It managed...

Pixel6 Pro Android 13, dismissing notifications harder on lock screen than when unlocked

I've noticed that it's only when it's sat on the charger that it's swipe-impaired. I just tried multiple swipes to discard a notification unsuccessfully. I took it off the charger and it worked first swipe. Update: It's definitely only when it's sat on the charger that it doesn't like swiping...
