Thanks a lot. My contacts didn't have the pencil Icon. It had a star, a person with the plus sign and the 3 dots. So I clicked the person with the star and it turned into the edit button. That was weird.. Either way, thanks! Problem solved!

Have you turned off "ambient display" in the display section of settings?

It's not as simple as that used to be in 5.0 where you could just go to the Edit section and put a custom ringtone for that person. I'm on 6.0.1 and cannot figure out for the life of me how to set custom ringtones for individual contacts. I can't even figure out how to edit the contacts. I feel...
