Where is the cheapest place to buy an AT&T GS3?

Wal-Mart has them for $148. I bought one Friday. All the local stores had white only so they may not carry blue or red (on ATT at least - they had Sprint phones in both colors but not on sale). Also, if you're interested, the One X was just $99. -darren Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using...

Epic 4G Touch-stone mod details [LOTS of photos]

It is time for me to sell this phone. I've been using the Galaxy Note, with Touchstone mod of course, for almost a year as this phone has set on my desk begging for a new home. :-) I can sell it as-is or reverse the mod and sell it stock. In case someone here wants a touchstone-enabled Epic...

    Google Now on Note 2

I've only seen Google Now activated in one demo video and it's the one by Vlad Savov of The Verge. He launched it from a button located on screen at the bottom of the recent apps screen (long press on the home key to launch) and in his demo it only drew the graphic at the top before he cut away...

Galaxy Note Touchstone Mod [Photo heavy]

Unfortunately no. Voltage and charge state information flow back and forth between the phone and the battery as usage changes from charging to discharging and in response to charge level and heat. The great thing about the USB port is that the phone is expecting a constant 5vdc feed from the...

Galaxy Note Touchstone Mod [Photo heavy]

Good work on the EVO. I'm glad the mod went smoothly. To answer your question from the XDA thread, I don't know whether the AT&T Note has the same point to solder off as the Int'l Note, but I would bet that it does. It appears to be a capacitor which would be in place to stabilize...

Epic 4G Touch-stone mod details [LOTS of photos]

Oh, and to answer your question: you might be able to use foil contacts to avoid running wires between the phone and the back but you will still need to route wires from the foil back to the USB charging port. The GNex uses contact charging which is why it has those visible charging contacts...

Epic 4G Touch-stone mod details [LOTS of photos]

I like that mod -- particularly for the use of foil contacts because it lets you take the battery door off without worrying about the connecting wires. I didn't understand at first how the foil stayed in contact all the time -- phones like the Pre used a spring-loaded contact on one side to...

    Galaxy Note Tips

There will be subtle differences between the AT&T and International version of the Note, but most of the features listed in this thread (click here) should apply to the AT&T Note as well. -darren

Galaxy Note Touchstone Mod [Photo heavy]

[cont'd from previous post...] Turning our attention to the plastic back, cut a notch at the base of the battery bay for the wires to pass through: Attach the plastic back to the screen/frame, routing the wires through the newly created hole in the battery compartment: Install the battery...

Galaxy Note Touchstone Mod [Photo heavy]

[cont'd from previous post...] Now remove the foil and metal studs from the plastic of the charging back and place them on the inside of the Note battery door: [Note: In this photo, I had trimmed the edges of the foil backing covering the coil. I did this previously in my Epic 4G Touch mod...

Galaxy Note Touchstone Mod [Photo heavy]

This is the third phone I've installed a Touchstone mod on, the earlier two being the Epic 4G Touch and Nexus S 4G. I think this is a little easier than either of those mods. As for longevity of a Touchstone mod, all three phones are still being used in my household and touchstone charging is...

HELP! I Updated to 2.3.6 without prior Root.

I can't answer your direct question but if you are new to Android you might consider looking at what you can customize with stock Android. You will have a lot more capability than on the iPhone and (IMHO) the TouchWiz interface from Samsung is really quite good. -darren

How do you change the dock icons at the bottom?

In the application list, you have to make sure your view type is set to "Customizable Grid" before you can change the app drawer icons. Once you've made the changes you want, you can change the view type back to "Alphabetical grid" or "Alphabetical list" and the changes will stick. I would...

    First accessory shipping: desktop dock

Epic 4G Touch-stone mod details [LOTS of photos]

OK, I got bored and wanted to see if I could make this mod more elegant by moving the charging coil into the back of the phone. Things I knew up front: 1.) by removing the vinyl on the back of the phone it will not stick as well to the touchstone or my hand and: 2.) because of it's thickness...
