-------Nexus 4 Battery Life (Horrible, Major drainage!)-------

Look earlier in this thread. Just because you have crazy battery drain does not equal a faulty battery. I would say the most common cause is an errant app or system process that is wakelocking the phone or pulling down crazy data. The first step is downloading a utility like GSam battery...

-------Nexus 4 Battery Life (Horrible, Major drainage!)-------

InItRightNow, i you want help debugging your battery drain, download GSam battery, install and post screenshots of app usage. What you posted doesn't show anything. It's saying you lost 47% of your battery in 2 and a half hours from "screen, phone idle and Android OS" which I don't believe. The...

-------Nexus 4 Battery Life (Horrible, Major drainage!)-------

What "report from this device" does Peejay is enables apps to report your location. Disabling this does disable things like Google Latitude, but it limits apps ability to constantly use your GPS throughout the day to locate you, which is why Maps usually has a higher battery drain than other...

Here're some of my battery screens from today for comparison. Notice that Services and Clock are not even on the radar. Note that this included a 30 min phone call and I didn't charge the phone all day.

Hey Dirk, I think Ryanr has an excellent point. in your overnight results you have over 6 hours of phone radio usage, but only 2 hours of wifi. I'm assuming you have wifi at your house? So it must be using cell radio when it's slept... Oh I just read your post, why would you turn wifi off...

-------Nexus 4 Battery Life (Horrible, Major drainage!)-------

Yeah Dirk, that's pretty bad. Can you post the details of Gmail? Your screentime wasn't very high, and your App Usage was 71% which is pretty dang high. Gmail was significantly higher than everything else, so I'm wondering what's going on there. Looks like Google Services and Maps have dropped...

-------Nexus 4 Battery Life (Horrible, Major drainage!)-------

I'm telling you guys... my suspicion is that the built in battery monitor just ignores a huge amount of background processes. My screen percentage is usually somewhere between 15-20% of battery, and my App usage is almost always about 60-70 percent. And I get a good 16 hours average usage. So...

Also, for those of you posting built in battery life screenshots, please post Gsam like DirkBelig did instead if you want help troubleshooting. The built in battery life only covers a few different things. It's not useful for debugging which particular apps are screwing with your battery life.

-------Nexus 4 Battery Life (Horrible, Major drainage!)-------

Hey man, Responding from your post in the other thread. So... I'll just say your Gsam looks a bit weird. I have NEVER seen Google Services Framework on my Gsam and yours is consuming 24% of your batt. Something off is going on there. Also, unless you're making a buttload of phonecalls, phone...

Bad battery life on nexus 4

Can either of you guys install GSam Battery Monitor, use it for a day, then post both the main battery usage screen and App usage? Even with stock apps sometimes Android can do weird things like Maps can randomly drain a lot of battery searching for your location due to latitude etc.

Bad battery life on nexus 4

I recommend GSam Battery Monitor. It has done wonders for me in terms of finding wakelocks or programs using far too much battery. Just to throw in on the battery life debate, so far my experience on the Nexus 4 has blown my Galaxy Nexus out of the water. When I used my Galaxy Nexus in my normal...

    Would you downgrade?

People are seriously saying 4.1 was superior to 4.2? The only thing I've run into so far is the Starbucks app not being supported. Otherwise it's improvements across the board. Lockscreen widgets, Quick settings screen, improved Gmail, improved Google Now, Photo sphere, HDR support, improved...

    Received a damaged Nexus 4

Hey OP, did you verify that you removed the small amount of plastic around the edges of the Chrome? There are 4 veeeery small strips. When I pulled it out of the box I thought there were dings on the edges of the chrome as well until I peeled off the plastic.

    Nexus 4 + Google Voice

You can also try talkatone. It uses your Google Voice account to make free phone calls with data. It can even intercept calls made using the default dialer app, and can intercept incoming calls as well.

Go to Settings -> Language & Input -> Choose a keyboard (Android Keyboard), click the little settings next to it -> Uncheck "Vibrate on Keypress"
