How can I prevent the Galaxy S5 from updating via OTA?

That little pop-up can pop-up every time your screen comes on - everyday...talk about a royal pain in the a$$.... and at some point the OTA can be forced on on you whether you manually install it or not. If you're able to, I would merely root your phone and stop any and all firmware updates...

How can I prevent the Galaxy S5 from updating via OTA?

I don't have knowledge of Verizon pulling an upgrade, although my knowledge is based om my limited experiences, Ultimately they make their customers suffer until a future update can correct the problems. This is what happened back when Ginberbread 3.2 was released... people who had been very...

What is the difference between a hard and soft brick?

I guess maybe I should have started a new thread... I'm not sure if your reply Fedginator addresses R. Ruku's problem, mine, or both. Is my situation soft brick or hard brick?

What is the difference between a hard and soft brick?

Since my problem seems related to the above, I'll post here. I hope that is okay. I have Galaxy S3 4.4.3 stock; I had added Wanam Xposed and a bunch of related modules. Since the torch/flashlight was working right, I installed a flashlight fixer module. After doing so, and rebooting, the...

Can a Verizon Galaxy S3 Still Be Rooted?

Thanks Moroni & Rukbat for your replies! Moroni - I followed your instructions and was able to root. Now I'm trying to determine having rooted my Galaxy S3 (Verizon) if I can load a new rom on it; seems I'm reading that with a locked bootloader, this may not be possible. Any ideas on how I...

Can a Verizon Galaxy S3 Still Be Rooted?

Over 100 views and not one answer. I guess this site isn't quite as good as it once was, like about 6 years ago. Oh well, i guess things are bound to change, and not always for the better. I'll check with another forum that will probably at least give an inkling of interest in helping someone...

Can a Verizon Galaxy S3 Still Be Rooted?

Is it still possible to root a Verizon Galaxy S3 (SCH-1535) running 4.4.2; kernel version 3.4.0 the date says: Tue May 20 00:18:59 KST 2014 - If so, what would be the best method. Based on what I've read on this forum, it seems Towel Root would be the way to go. I'm just not sure if it's too...

[OFFICIAL] Droid X Gingerbread Impressions and Issues

LMO- Thanks for your post. - I actually stumbled on some info somewhere else and learned how to wipe the cache. This seems to take it out of the loop of asking if you want to install it. Since I did that, no more reminders!!! btw, I'm unrooted. - - - When I bought my phone a year ago...

[OFFICIAL] Droid X Gingerbread Impressions and Issues

BBtoDroid- Thanks for your reply. I have heard 1 or 2 people say something like Motorola will eventually force the installation of 4.5.605, even if I keep entering "Install Later". Do you know if that's true? - I guess I'm at the mercy of their system. The way I'm looking at it is, my...

[OFFICIAL] Droid X Gingerbread Impressions and Issues

I've looked around quite a bit on this forum and couldn't find an answer on this, but I'm sure it's been talked about. - I have a DroidX w/ 2.2.1 v. 2.3.340; a couple days ago, somehow the update for GB v. 4.605 got downloaded to my phone and it asks do I want to install now or later. I always...

    Automotive info application?

How about using Note Everything or a similar app? Or you could put it on an Excel spreadsheet & use Drop Box. The beauty of Drop Box is you can access it with any computer or with your phone. Lots of options.
