I have upgraded to Lollipop and I understand Interruptions has replaced Blocking Mode. I have read a few threads but my S5 does not have the option to set a specific time? Please see photo.

It looks like it will only allow them on the program you are using them, like live mail on a PC on live mail in a browser. But they just won't allow them through on the stock app on the phone. I need to get into the hotmail server somehow and make the changes there, is this possible?

Yes this the stock app but not google email - hotmail. I have gone onto live mail and made the changes as you suggest but it still happens on my phone.

I can think only after an update that this has happended. I now have an extra 4G wifi symbol with a lightning mark next to it which always seems to be greyed out. I have highlighted in white in the photo where it is in the notification bar. What is it? Thanks.
