Good grief. I know this is an old thread now, but just FYI? I'm in Vancouver, had the same problem - and believe me, this phone has never been in St. John's. Apparently it WANTED to be. :-)

I wish I had an answer for you, but I came here myself looking for a solution to almost exactly the same problem. I have an HTC One M9 running Android 6.0 (although this problem was present in the previous Android version). When a call comes in from a contact that's in my Google contacts...
