Light Flow - LED and Notifications App

It rotates through all notifications. However, the rotation speed is slow. I use a custom flash of (10,300) for all notifications. I get several flashes of the first color, then several of the second, etc. In practice, it's not that useful a feature. You would have to watch the phone for a while...

    Ballistic Case Pics

I received my Ballistic case, which is replacing a Diztronic. The case has a rubber part and a hard exterior shell. The rubber part fits the phone loosely. It is very easy to take on and off -- almost too easy. The hard shell helps keep the rubber on the phone. The rubber is softer than the...

    Ballistic case

Ballistic sent an Email that the case has shipped -- at 7:42 AM. Who works at 7:42 AM? Unfortunately, they shipped it USPS, which doesn't have very good package tracking. I was in the garage the other day and accidentally dropped my phone from about 4 feet onto the concrete floor. Fortunately...

    Two Nexus 4 questions.

Some SIM cards can be cut. Others cannot. I depends on whether your card has a 6-pad or 8-pad lead frame. +1. Given how easy it is, why not just get a new SIM. Save your receipt. It has your IMSI and ICCID numbers. They can come in handy.

    Ballistic case

Just ordered mine. The promo code worked, almost paying for the shipping. The Email and purchase screen indicate the cases are in stock. We'll see how quickly they ship.

    Battery cycles used while charging

Using your phone while plugged in will not reduce the life of your battery. Try to pug it into a high capacity "Wall Wart" charger. If you plug it into a USB port, the phone might draw more current than the USB port can supply. If that happens, your battery will slowly discharge.

Looking to switch from iPhone to Nexus, a couple of questions

It's fun to bash AT&T, but I have to say they are great about switching phones. I use AT&T's "Go Phone" (pay as you go). When I switched from Galaxy S to Nexus 4, I needed to switch from the mini-SIM to the micro-SIM. Because of the chip on my mini-SIM, I couldn't just cut the plastic. I...

    Moving contacts to N4

Because you can't manage Google contacts. Outlook contacts are easily placed in categories, added, deleted, edited, etc. Google contacts are nothing more than a hodgepodge of people you have contacted -- sometimes just once or even by accident. Who needs a bunch of unsorted useless junk on their...

Using stock front/back/side screen protectors as your permanent protector for the Nexus 4

I started using the front protector, but after a while the symbols they printed to indicate the position of the power and volume switches started driving me batty. I eventually pulled both of them off.

Easiest Way to Sync Outlook Calendar with Phone

I found My Phone Explorer while looking for a way to sync Outlook contacts with my phone. It has an option to sync the calendar. I've never tried syncing the calendar, but the contact sync works great. Here's the page. I use Chrome and let Google translate the German web page for me. The...

    Nexus 4 Wi-Fi Hotspot

Bottom line -- if you agree to a contract that excludes tethering, it's hard to argue with a company enforcing the provision. What we need is a little more competition to get more options.

Having Nexus 4 plugged in while using it?

Lithium batteries are good for a certain number of charge cycles. Using the phone with the charger plugged in does not reduce battery life. The life of these batteries is shortened dramatically if they are brought to deep discharge.

What is the best case for the N4?

Great find, Rbower! I looked a week or so ago and it wasn't on Amazon then. For $4 including shipping (with Prime account), how can you go wrong? I have a TPU case and was planning to upgrade to a Ballistic when it was available. I'm still not sold on the circles on the back of the case, but it...

UPDATE: My Ionic Guardian case has arrived!!!

I want to like this case, but the circles on the back look strange. They remind me of the Star Trek monster that could suck all the salt out of a person's body with suckers on the ends of it's fingers.
