Its awful. and what's weird is when the screen is off when a text message comes through, the screen turns on as if a text message is appearing but there is no text message preview... The screen just turns on and you hear the sound but no pop up / preview.

I have a galaxy s7. I don't know where that is. Under the text message app settings and calendar settings, everything is set to show previews. See attachments.

Samsung S7, after the new oreo update I can no longer choose individual sounds for text notifications for certain contacts. That option has disappeared. All I see is you can select individual ringtones but not text message notification sounds like before.

Thanks for the suggestion but that didn't work. There are only like 9 things listed there, none of which is "messaging" or "calendar". There was something called "notifications" listed but the icon next to it is the "settings" icon. I tried that but no change.

That didn't work for me. I have a Galaxy S7 and all settings are set to on for preview / pop ups AND set to urgent, but no preview/pop ups when I get text messages, just the sound. Same with my calendar, it's also set for pop-up notifications but only the sound is working when my calendar...
