Since most people who use wifi use wpa for security, most people with dropping signal are likely to already be on wpa. So that's not going to solve anything. Wep encryption can be cracked in a couple seconds and allow hackers to steal your personal information. Wpa is far tougher to crack

Don't do that. Just name your 2.4Ghz and 5ghz differently. On the phone, Set the password only for the ssid that you want it to connect to.
