Im a Smartphone newbie. I too same prob. I found better solution on my own. I also had Notifications OFF&still. Instead go to Settings,then SOUNDS. Slide Notification slider all the way off. You'll see Calls,Media sounds&etc...you can adjust while u ur there! AHHHH! Enjoy your PEACE!

My phone is 12days old. Today mine started also. Never when swiping notifications. Im reading Chrome pages or email&Ill noticed its switched? No apps added last few days? Will this Silent my Alarms,now?
