I finally dropped my T-Mobile SIM into the G4 Plus. So far so good. I don't know if I can use VoLTE. Enhanced 4G LTE services is enabled but I do not know if that encompasses VoLTE.

Thanks... I checked with t-mobile and the IMEI number is considered invalid by them. What I have read is that Motorola has not done the VoLTE certification that t-mobile requires... or something to that effect. I will throw my SIM in the G4 Plus and see what happens. Will be mightily unhappy if...

Mind if I ask what carrier you use? I bought the G4 plus to use on T-Mobile but am being told it won't be supported due to some issue with VoLTE.

I am in the US. I think the improved Doze is responsible for the improved battery life I am seeing.

Got Nougat on the 23rd. No problems so far. I saw an immediate improvement in battery life. This phone has not had a SIM in it yet. If I put in a drawer fully charged that evening it would be down to about 55%. After the update it was at 92% in the evening. Quite the difference.

Okay. That is incentive for me to not put a SIM card in this phone until it receives the update. I have no timeline I need to meet for getting this phone on a network. Currently using a Lumia 640 on T-Moble. I rather love the Windows Phone OS... 8.1 anyway. For the most part major apps are not...

As I said being new to Android I am not clear on how updates are pushed out. I know carriers have control of whether they want to push Nougat to phones on their network. But Lenovo/Moto can push updates directly to phones? That seems odd if they can bypass carriers... or do some carriers allow...

New to Android. I have the G4 Plus. Brand new and I don't have a SIM card in currently. Just using WiFi to add apps and learn my way around Android. Will Nougat be pushed to this phone since it is not affiliated with a carrier?
