SUCCESS! I SBF'd back to the original 2.4.5 firmware from the forum above, then downloaded the update and it applied successfully. No factory reset or data loss, I still have all my apps and everything. I did have to re-activate my verizon service after SBF'ing, but that's to be expected...

Mine tried to update this morning, and has failed 4 times. It reboots, brings up the "Android updating" logo/icon thing with a progress bar, gets about 1/4 of the way across, the "box" icon switches to a "warning sign" and then the phone reboots. Upon rebooting, it pops up with "Update Failed"...
