I've taken a close up picture of the screen and it looks like I was wrong. There are indeed about 12 pixels to the mm (about 300 pixels to the inch) as there should be. Picture attached, the grid lines are a little blurred but they are 1mm apart. So I wonder why the wrong size is being reported...

John, it doesn't look smaller. The 1920x1080 picture more than fills the screen. The edges are not visible. What I'd expect, if the screen were really 2560x1600, is that the 1920x1080 picture would fit comfortably in the middle with room to spare around the edges.
