I have Pixel 2 XL w/ Android 11; Windows 10 Thinkpad; trouble with moving files from phone to pc

Yes; my answers were delayed because I needed to test a new cable I got and test all the USB ports on my laptop. I also tried all cables on a different, older Dell laptop with the same result. No error message on the older laptop, just no drive recognized.

    Google keeps stopping.

B Diddy, I went into the Google app and deleted the data as you instructed. Still getting Google has stopped; in fact, it just popped up as I finished half of that sentence. I did not reboot after the data was deleted, however. Other thoughts? I sure appreciate your help.

Response to B. Diddy re: Pixel 2 XL Google stopping - B. Diddy, yes, I did clear the app data for the Google app (if we're talking about the cache). If there is other data that should be cleared, where would I go for that? While I was at it, I cleared all the other app caches, too.
