Download the app called Kies from Samsung's website. Your Galaxy will sync with that. You then need to take the photos and videos in Kies and transfer them to a folder on your Mac. Once you've done that, you can drag and drop them into iPhoto. Please note, I don't believe Kies is compatible...

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and an iMac (late '09). Through an app called Kies, I am able to sync the videos I take with the Galaxy with iPhoto because Kies converts them into mp4 format. However, when I sync my iPad 2 with iTunes, some of the videos sync and some do not; yet they're all in mp4...
