Mine doesn't really have gap where I can stick paper in, but there is a noticeable difference on the right side compared to the left side. The left side looks flush and I can't see the gap while on the right side I can see a gap and not being flush like on the left side.

I prefer to keep the Touchwiz framework and use a different home launcher like Nova. I keep Touchwiz because I like some of the extra features (Note 3 you need TW to use the S-Pen stuff) and then currently I'm using Nova to customize my layout the way I like it.
