This is exactly what I did and I was very disappointed in the Thrive so it went back a couple days later. For me, the disappointment was with the OS more than the hardware so I am in no rush to "upgrade" my trusted Flyer.

My phone was fine until the GB update. I lost the alarm function and I also lost the ability to open the Market app so yesterday I took the time to perform a factory reset. Total pita but so far everything is working again. I'll monitor to see if it stops working again as indicated by mgftp.

Just finished the manual update. Looks good. Subtle changes here and there that I notice so far. Google+ went wacky after the restart and kept repeatedly bringing up the Connect screen. I did a force close and then an uninstall to get it to stop.

That describes my change in phones. I used BB for over 6 years and left a Storm 2 for the DInc2. Can't imagine going back. The integration of my corporate email/calendar/contacts is excellent. No complaints at all and a much better user experience (for me). Still learning something new...
