To answer the original question: I did, and quite honestly, it's one of the best devices I've owned.

On its own Nexus device Google states that unlocking the bootloader may void the warranty. Edit: Oh, and unlocking the bootloader on the Nexus 5 trips a tampered flag.

Re: Why do people hate the S5? It depends. I was jazzed up for all three of the big new devices (S5, M8, Z2), but came away generally apathetic to all of them. For me, I tend to like devices that elicit certain emotional responses. None of those devices do that to me (yet). My apologies...
