On further thought, I think the abnormal heating is a clue. Too much power is being dissipated as heat, which makes me suspect you have defective hardware. I think you should take the phone back and get a replacement.

I have a new S6 Edge and I'm not seeing any of the problems you describe. The battery only drains quickly if I use the phone a lot, and the fast charging is *very* fast. I've never gotten down to a 5% charge, but charging from around 25% to 35% up to 100% takes < 20 minutes.
