It's relatively new, as I've only had it about 2 months. I'm going to try the cache partition wipe like you suggested and see if that helps. Thanks!

FML, it literally just happened again right now, at this very moment. :'( I should add that the screen goes black and locks even if you turn the tablet sideways (so it changes orientation)

It happens seemingly randomly, but there are times when I try to unlock the screen but can't. When i try to, the display turns black and the tablet locks itself again. No matter WHAT I try to do, whether trying to go straight to settings or adding a new widget to the lock screen - it turns black...
