My guess is it's unlocked to be used with other carriers or none at all, but not considered a Google Play edition and therefore still has some carrier branding. Just my 2-cents worth on that one.

I had the same thought running through my mind - I'd like the 64-bit for future proofing, but odds are by the time 32-bit is a serious constraint I'll be looking to upgrade anyway.

I'm curious if folks are still experiencing WiFi or other bigger issues (post Lollipop and other OTAs); I'm leaning towards the Shield vs. Nexus 9 right now; each have their respective imperfections but as much as the N9 light-bleed is of concern to me, WiFi is as well.

I'm leaning towards the shield as well; the price point of the N9 would be Ok but I'm bothered by the light-bleed issues and not thrilled about the soft-push on it's back (e.g. the bubble)... A lower price point and I might reconsider - we'll see how this plays out over the next few weeks.

Nice write up - I appreciate this and the follow on comments/questions. I'm long due for an upgrade and intending to address that in the coming weeks and have been eyeing up the reviews of the N9; I found this to be very practical and user oriented. As is, I'm leaning towards Nvidia's Shield...

I'd like to win because... why not? Not sure I'd switch from my Moto X, but I'd kick the tires and figure something out.

Why should I win? Because I'm and awesome dad and spend most of my play money on the kids vs. myself, this would be something I could at least try first :)
