There is a guy that made a fix for the tethering thing, he has a website called 'scottsroms' I don't use tethering do I don't bother with it, but, basically he just redirects the AT&T check on tethering to his domain instead and says 'yes'. Search XDA and you should be able to find it. Sorry...
