Wow. That makes for some seriously scary reading. Although pretty PC savvy, I'm not to hot with Android devices. Am I correct that the only way to 'completely' disable Smart Manager, is to root my phone?

Eek! I had no idea about this issue. I have it on my S5 and use it often. Guess I'll stop.

It's probably staring me in the face, but I can't see it in settings. I'm on very limited WiFi for a while and don't want apps downloading updates. Thanks

Sorry I always forget that. It's the F model in the UK and factory unlocked.

Although my S5 already had 6.0.1 installed, it said there was a large update. I allowed the update and it rebooted, but it still shows the same 6.0.1 Now though, some apps and widgets have simply vanished off the phone. These include the sms app being used and the default torch. Any idea what...

I should've been clearer. It's an after market wireless charger from Amazon. Works in one but not the other.

Is there a way to fully close apps with a single click? It seems apps don't actually close when exiting, but just minimise. I've seen an option in Dev options that I thought might work but it doesn't do anything. Drives me nuts when I discover there's a shed load of apps open that I didn't realise.

I've also had this issue after forgetting my ID. Samsung eventually sent me a link to update my details (via PC). I have seen a post on these forums, saying to make sure you remove both Samsung AND Google accounts b4 running a factory reset
