Mine was the charging port on the phone had overheated and failed. Somehow it shorts and it thinks a gear vr product is connected. To fix i had to take it to samsung and get the USB connection piece inside the phone repaired.

so damn annoying. There is a similar post on this forum. I suspected that these problems were linked together. Google galaxy s6 black screen small x to bring up the post. No solution yet.
