I love it, but I can't see the point

Those innovative smartwatches are certainly ugly by today's standards. Style will have to change before people wear one of those!

Hey eker, But it was my understanding that as long as the phone is on and the watch and phone both have cell signal, you can leave the phone home and do all of the things that you say you can't do with the watch. Am I mistaken?

    My only concern, STANDALONE!

That's weird. I read in another thread that if you get an email on your phone it will be pushed to your watch. And there are several apps you can use (e.g., Nine) that allows you to read them as well.

Where did you get the watch on ebay? At what price (I only saw really jacked up prices)? Thanks!

    My only concern, STANDALONE!

Hey eker, I am in the same boat as you are. As I have been exploring the last week or so, you can leave your phone at home because the watch communicates with it through cellular as long as the phone is on. No doubt there needs a lot of 'standalone' app development, but that won't occur till...

Email and Text Apps on LG Urbane 2nd Ed LTE

I just set up Exchange on the regular email app on my Samsung GS6, so you say that should push to my watch? That's all I want. Any thoughts on the Exchange (i.e., Outlook) calendar and contacts. For example, if I have a calendar event notification on my phone, will it push to my watch? I use...

Email and Text Apps on LG Urbane 2nd Ed LTE

I've been wondering whether this watch could receive Exchange email and you gave me the answer I wanted to hear: Yes! A few related questions: 1. Do you install Nine on the watch, the phone (a Samsung GS6), or both? 2. What do you use for getting your Exchange calendar and contacts on your...

The Obvious Definition and Perhaps Acceptable New Definition of 'Standalone'

I think I've just decided that the watch meets my personal definition of 'standalone.' Yay!!

Has anyone found a decent launcher

Great stuff, FLS! A follow-up question. 1. Will contacts from an Exchange account come through or only through gmail? 2. Will Wear Messages and Wear Mail get my Google Voice messages and my Exchange emails and calendar notifications? Very much appreciated!!

The Obvious Definition and Perhaps Acceptable New Definition of 'Standalone'

Really helpful, guys, much appreciated. A few follow-up questions. 1. If the watch is connected to the phone, will all email and calendar events come through, even from Exchange? 2. Is there somewhere we can get a list of which AW apps work standalone with the watch and which will work when...

The Obvious Definition and Perhaps Acceptable New Definition of 'Standalone'

Other posts have stated clearly that the watch can communicate with the phone over cellular, enabling the phone to stay at home. Can anyone else provide additional clarity to this question?

Has anyone found a decent launcher

Great detail, FLS! Quick question. Are your contacts installed on the watch or is the contacts app on the watch simply connected to the contacts on your phone? Same question for all of the apps that you describe as reachable from Watchmaker Premium? Many thanks!

The Obvious Definition and Perhaps Acceptable New Definition of 'Standalone'

Not condescending at all. Your thoughts are very reasonable. And expectations may, indeed, be too high. I'm just trying to connect reality with expectations. I would like someone who knows more than I (which, I'm sure is many) to tell me if my understanding is accurate re: watch and phone...

The Obvious Definition and Perhaps Acceptable New Definition of 'Standalone'

I may be beating a dead horse here, but there seems to be enough confusion about the meaning of 'standalone' to warrant further discussion and clarification. The obvious meaning of 'standalone' is that the watch doesn't need any connection to a phone to function. As StarCat puts it in another...

    My only concern, STANDALONE!

I'm going to return to something in another thread. For me, there a difference between needing to have your phone nearby (e.g., paired with BT), thus negating the big value of a standalone watch, and having it paired through cellular, meaning that the phone can be 100 miles from the watch, but...
