I have a suspicion about the reason behind this lack of space: I think the Tablet keeps all the space an app takes blocked, even if you move it partly to the SD card, for it to have space when updating, as the newer Android versions require the apps to be (automatically) moved back to internal...

Any other ideas? There has to be a way to free this obviously unoccupied space...

Shouldn't that be deleted when clicking "Cached Data" (Settings-General-Storage) anyway? Either way, I went through every single app listed under General - Storage - Used Space - Applications, nothing (except for 150KB in FB + Messenger and the occasional 4KB in system apps).
