    You are probably right, but I really wanted to fix it myself, because I am low on funds, and I have some experience repairing electronics and it's a hobby of mine. Do I have any other options?

    I ordered the part from Amazon. The only difference between that and the original is that whatever shielding or insulation on the ribbon cable that connects the 3.5mm jack to the micro USB port is silver, and not beige, and the cable is approx. a millimeter or less longer.

    I'm not quite sure how to proceed next, and I don't know exactly what the cause of the problem is, and I don't have anyone physically around me who can help, either.

    I opened it back up, and it looks just like it did before I replaced it, except the charging port itself wasn't recessed into the interior of the device.
