There are separate settings within the Outlook app that also have to be configured for notifications. As mentioned above you would have to try another launcher to achieve this for now.

You could try setting the Google Messenger to the default SMS app and see if that works. That way you can isolate if it just isn't working at all or if it is a Verizon Messages issue.

Maybe something to do with your works firewall. Here we allow lots of things out, just pretty protective on what comes back in.

I did. After the fiasco with their Note I didn't want to have to take extra precautions at airports or on airplanes with those less educated thinking I had a fire hazard with me. Plus I am really enjoying the Pixel XL.
