On my pc with a calibrated monitor, they look richer. Like the color saturation is boosted up a bit. Looks good right out of the camera. But I shoot in RAW, so I can achieve the same look in post editing, so that wasn't a big deal, Perfect for my wife that doesn't use Photoshop, or care to post...

4:3 format is typically used for printing to standard sizes, such as 5x7 or 8x10 with minimal cropping compared to the 16:9 to fit the standard sizes. 16:9 starts off as a 4:3 but is then cropped, hence the lower mega pixels.
