Mine stops when camera is turned on as well! At least we are getting somewhere. Is the "camera LED" the flash? Why would that rattle when it was turned off? :-\

I am holding the power button, and ALL buttons, as I gingerly shake the phone forward and backward (if you are looking at the screen). The button cannot rattle if I'm holding it in place. I've even held the button down while I shook it, which, to me, rules out whatever part beneath the cap...

Its not the power button. I hold the power button and all other buttons on the phone without the battery, sim, or cover attached. Something INSIDE is rattling. Going to the store today to see if other photons have this issue and if they do not, swap!
