Just depends on how deep into the weeds you want to get with details & customization.... Start basic and then screw around with it over time, it evolves for me a bit over time, with new devices, etc

I got my Pixel 2 when Verizon ran a Holiday sale 2 years ago & I got it for 50% off over 24 bill credits. It will be paid off in 2 months. Had to replace original one due to bad USB C port after a year... This current one is working well enough that I see no need to upgrade from a paid off...

October update is only if you upgrade to Q/10? Updates stop if you stay on Pie?

Regarding notifications, all they would need to do is add a small floating button that appears at the bottom of the screen when the notification comes thru at the top. You tap on that button to drop the notification shade down; or you swipe it away to dismiss it.

Don't forget you can use the fingerprint scanner to swipe down for notifications... Although it seems to work better on some phones than others. I remember my old HTC M8 had the ability to customize a 4th button on the dock & I used that for notifications. It was absolutely great. I know the...

I use Nova - just to confirm: when I move on to Android 10, I'll have the option for 2 or 3 button navigation? I currently use & like the 2 button setup with the Pill & back arrow with swiping up.

I don't think you can get ride of the search bar on the home screen unless you use a 3rd party launcher

Phone reboot after the January update. Decided to see if the issue was still there.... Yep. Had to disable Doze again - real time notifications are back. Can't believe this is still an issue.

BlueMail worked in real time for me. I haven't been using it for Gmail since turning off Doze, but that's what got me through the couple weeks before the ADB fix was posted here

I don't blame you one bit....2018 - real time email should not be something we actually have to worry about. Reminds of the 15 minute refresh / send/ receive of these days:

I disabled Doze via ADB instructions in this thread & have been very happy so far.

I just received a replacement P2 thru Verizon due to a bad USB C port. The phone would charge but the port wouldn't do anything else - no data connections, no sound output, etc.

I didn't realize they dropped the notification LED light - is this on both new Pixels or just the XL?
