A shame. Well, hopefully this will be useful to others, as I found this thread while Googling a problem for my Xoom with the same problem description. Have a good one!

I know this is an old thread but I had the same problem happen to me. After tinkering for a bit I went to the Wi-Fi settings and tapped the triple dot in the upper right corner. Tap on Advanced -> Wi-Fi frequency band. Change from Auto to 5 GHz and back again to Auto. Fixed the problem for me. :D
