S-OFF and, when you say "the root" of my sd card, is that a specific place? I looked for a "root" folder but didn't see one. I'm also pretty sure that I have another pc36img on my card. I'll remove that and try it again. thanks

I have tried that. It rebbots to the white HTC EVO screen then to a black screen with a thumbnail of an Evo and a triangle with an "!" it. :-\ Also, yes I did do a backup via rom manager. Honestly, I can deal with losing everything if necessary. I just need to get my phone back up and running...
