Do I need a virus scanner?

I have two Samsungs--an S5 and and S6. Both had trial versions of Malwarebytes on them. Both trials have expired. Do I really need a virus scanner and what is a good one for android phones?

    call blockers

mooncat Thank you for taking the time to answer... The S6 does have the option to block calls but when a call comes in from a blocked or blacklisted number it rings at least 4 times before the phone hangs up on the caller. It's annoying.

    call blockers

The deletions are not an issue. In point of fact, I did look at my post after I had entered it. And it seemed fine. In point of fact, I copied and pasted it from a saved bit of text. Beyond that if you don't want people to post anonymously, why do you allow it? I administer a discussion...

    call blockers

I don't understand. I am a member. I just couldn't find a link to log in with this new (relative to the last time I posted here) interface. AAFAIK, I didn't reference anyone else. Why would I? The question I posted was precisely as it appears above...no additional content. So, now my...

    sending photos via text

Well as I said, I'm fairly new to smartphones but from what I understand, with the phone she has (S5) and the one I have (S6) if you travel outside the range of your wifi nexus, the phone will automatically switch to mobile data. That's what the settings screens imply and that appears to be how...

    sending photos via text

Thank you, I'll do that. But my next question is: Why would that make a difference when sending photos through 4G data?

    sending photos via text

My wife has an unlocked AT&T Samsung S5 on Tracfone. Lately she cannot send or share photos in text messages...nor, apparently, receive photos. She doesn't use the phone that much but it was working satisfactorily up until about two weeks ago. When she attaches a photo to a text message she...

    audio voicemail

So...my old S2 had an app on it that would record missed calls to an audio file. There was a pro-version (sans ads) but the free version was adequate. Now that I have an S5 and an S6, I don't see anything similar. Not among the default apps, not on Playstore. There is voice mail but you have to...

    bloatware

Is there a list or a link to a list of bloatware on the S6? I have an unlocked Verizon S6, using TotalWireless as my carrier and have disabled the obvious (all the Verizon apps I can) as well as some stuff I won't ever use. But I'm looking for stuff I might have missed.

    voice mail

I don't understand how it works...on my old Samsung S2 I had a voicemail app. On my new S5 and S6 there doesn't seem to be a dedicated voicemail app. I received a call that supposedly went to voicemail on the S5 (got a notification to that effect) but I couldn't find any trace of it. The...

    Not getting photos in text

Thank you for taking the time...although the fact that you seem to be the only one, suggests the other version in the "Help" thread might have been better placed. But no matter, the problem is solved--the folks over at Android Forums advised I look at APN' and even provided a link to a...

    Not getting photos in text

Far as I can see both are turned on. I was told by my carrier that the phone would default to wifi when it was available and then switch to 4G when it was not.

    Photo not showing up

x-post from S5 forum... My wife has an AT&T S5 on the Tracfone network. I have an S2 on Virgin Mobile (replacing it soon). We just got the S5 set up and activated yesterday. I have a wifi network for my desktops, and apparently the S5 defaults to wifi. And that suits us fine as long as we are...
